Terms of use
What you can do with Atlynx’s maps, and what needs permission first.
Atlynx’s work
The maps on atlynxmaps.com, the borders and territories drawn for them, the datasets compiled for them, the texts, illustrations, design, the name Atlynx and its logo are Atlynx’s work. All rights are reserved. They are protected by copyright and, as collections of data, by the EU database right. Using the site means accepting these terms.
Free, with credit
Without asking, you may:
- explore the maps and share links to them, anywhere;
- use screenshots for personal, school, university or non-profit purposes, with a visible credit: “Map: Atlynx — atlynxmaps.com”.
Keep the credit with the image, and don’t alter a map in a way that changes what it shows. Search engines and AI assistants are welcome to read the pages and point people to them.
Needs written permission
- Any commercial use: in products or services that are sold, in advertising, in company materials, and in ad-supported or monetised media, including YouTube channels, podcasts and paid newsletters. Commercial use may require a paid licence.
- Embedding Atlynx in another website or app, or showing it inside a frame. Only sites Atlynx has approved can embed its maps.
- Downloading the map data: scraping, automated or bulk downloading of the tiles and datasets, reusing them in other maps or products, or rebuilding them elsewhere.
- Using the Atlynx name or logo for anything other than crediting the maps.
To ask, write to [email protected] with what you’d like to use, where and how.
Press and media
Newspapers, magazines, broadcasters and other media need to ask before using Atlynx’s maps to illustrate their stories. Asking is quick: write to [email protected]. Editorial use is often granted free of charge, with credit and a link.
Wallpapers
The wallpapers are for your own screens. They may not be resold, redistributed or printed for sale.
Other people’s data
Some layers are built on open data from others, such as OpenStreetMap, OpenLandMap, Global Energy Monitor and Pleiades. Those parts stay under their own licences, which these terms don’t restrict: you can always take that data from its original source under its licence. Every source is listed on Sources.
Accuracy
Atlynx is compiled from public sources and drawn with care, but it can be incomplete, out of date or wrong, especially where wars are moving lines. Borders, names and colours do not express a position on any claim. The maps are for understanding, not for navigation, travel, military, legal or financial decisions, and Atlynx accepts no liability for such use, to the extent the law allows. Spotted a mistake? Write to [email protected].
Changes and law
These terms may be updated; the version on this page applies. They are governed by Italian law, without affecting the protections consumers have in their own country. Last updated: 8 October 2026.
