Interactive de facto map of Yemen. The Republic of Yemen has been partitioned since the 2014 Houthi takeover of the capital Sana’a. The internationally recognized government, based in Aden, controls the south and east of the country, while the Houthi movement (Ansar Allah) controls the populous north and west. The Southern Transitional Council, which ran southern Yemen as a de facto separate entity, dissolved in 2026, and in September 2026 the Houthis overran the Red Sea coastal zone of the Yemeni National Resistance. This map shows the real territorial split of Yemen on the ground today.
