The ruling State Administration Council junta (the Tatmadaw) has progressively lost ground to a broad resistance that includes the National Unity Government’s People’s Defence Forces (PDF), long-established ethnic armed organizations like the Kachin Independence Army (KIA), Karen National Liberation Army (KNLA), and Arakan Army (AA), and the Three Brotherhood Alliance. This map shows the real fragmentation of Myanmar — the territories each side actually controls on the ground.
