Minerva Reefs — De Facto Map

Minerva Reefs — Territory of Tonga · South Pacific · Claimed by Fiji.

Two atolls between Fiji and Tonga, awash at high tide, which Tonga annexed in 1972 after an American developer tried to found a "Republic of Minerva" on them. Fiji disputes the annexation and counts the reefs inside its own waters. In 2011 the Fijian navy destroyed Tonga's navigation beacons and two Tongan navy ships restored them. The map shows them as Tonga's, with Fiji's claim on its own panel.
