Fano: the Amhara militias that fought beside the federal army against Tigray in 2020–22, then turned on it in 2023 when Addis Ababa moved to dissolve the regional forces. They now hold much of the Amhara countryside, while the government keeps the towns and the roads between them; the map draws their ground in light green. The Amhara Fano National Movement speaks for most of them. On 21 September 2026 it joined six other armed movements in the Ethiopian Peoples' Forces Alliance for Survival, which aims to remove Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed's government and install a transitional administration.
