CODECO — De Facto Map

CODECO — Militia · Djugu, Ituri · Influence beside the state.

CODECO, the Coopérative pour le développement du Congo: a network of mostly Lendu militias in Djugu territory, north of Bunia. It runs no administration, but across these hills its fighters are an authority the state has to reckon with; in April 2026 they reinforced the Congolese army against the CRP at Pimbo. Its violence fell early in 2026 amid talks on joining the army reserve and the Aru II peace dialogue, yet the UN still documents forced labour and more than 100 children in its ranks. The map hatches its ground with the Congolese colour — influence, not control — and marks separately the part where the Ugandan army operates too.
