Cameroon: some 29 million people, governed by President Paul Biya since 1982 and declared re-elected in October 2025 at the age of 92, amid protests. The state faces two separate conflicts. In the Far North, Boko Haram and the Islamic State's West Africa Province raid across the border from Nigeria, from the Lake Chad shore to the Mandara mountains. In the two English-speaking regions of the north-west and south-west, separatists have fought the army since 2017 for a state they call Ambazonia.
