The Afar National Unity Revolutionary Front, an armed movement of the Afar people, which held its first congress in May 2026. It holds a small stretch of ground on the Afar edge of Tigray, near Abala. On 21 September 2026 it joined six other armed movements in the Ethiopian Peoples' Forces Alliance for Survival, which aims to remove Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed's government and install a transitional administration.
