- Disaster on the Upper Baetis — The Scipio brothers divide their army; their Celtiberians are bought off, and three Carthaginian generals fall on each half in turn. Publius dies at Castulo, Gnaeus a month later at Ilorci, and Rome’s Spain shrinks to the Ebro. (Livy 25.32–36; Appian, Iberica 16)
- Publius Scipio killed at Castulo — Attacked by Mago and Hasdrubal Gisco with Masinissa’s Numidians while trying to stop Indibilis, Publius is struck by a lance and his army breaks; the news is kept from his brother. (Livy 25.34)
