The Upper Satrapies in 218 B.C.
The Upper Satrapies — Seleucid Empire.
The vast eastern provinces — Media, Persis, Carmania, Aria, Drangiana and Arachosia — reaching toward the Indus and the Hindu Kush. Governed by royal satraps but immense and restive, this was the deep reserve of the empire: the silver and horses of Media, the old Persian homeland, and the long roads east. It was from Media that Molon launched his revolt in 222. Antiochus would not rest until, in his great anabasis of 212–205 BC, he marched east to bind the upper satrapies and their client kings back to the crown and win his title of "the Great."
