The Nomad Scythians in 218 B.C.
The Nomad Scythians — Scythians.
The pure pastoral nomads of the open steppe east of the Borysthenes, who sow nothing and plant nothing but live wholly off their herds. They follow the grass with their cattle and horses, dwelling in felt-roofed waggons that are house and city both, drinking the milk of their mares and carrying all they own behind their oxen. Subject to the Royal horde, they are the steppe in its purest form — a people without walls, fields or fixed home.
