Oppida Latinorum — Roman Republic.

Towns holding the Old Latin Right (ius Latii) — the privileges of trade (commercium), intermarriage (conubium) and migration with Rome, but short of the full vote. These were the remnant of the old Latin League, the league of kindred Latin cities dissolved by Rome after the Latin War of 340–338 BC. Rather than destroy them, Rome settled them into a privileged intermediate status — Latins in law and blood, bound to Rome but not Roman citizens — a category it would later extend across Italy and beyond.
