The little island lying just off the western flank of Rhodes, closely bound to the Rhodian state that orders the southeastern Aegean. Though modest, with its single town of the same name and a small harbour sheltering ships on the busy lane between Rhodes and the Carian coast, Chalke shares in the prosperity of Rhodes, whose navy keeps these waters clear of pirates.
