The Atintani in 218 B.C.

The Atintani — Illyrian Tribes.

A people of the southern borderland where the Illyrian country meets Epirus, caught between the great powers and made a pawn in the Roman–Illyrian wars. In the settlement that closed the First Illyrian War the Atintani passed under the hand of Rome; soon after, when Demetrius of Pharos rebelled, he detached them again — so that this small frontier people changed masters with the tides of a war fought over their heads.
