The land of Lyttos — seized and razed by Knossos in 220 BC and now held by the conqueror. While the whole Lyttian army was away on campaign, the Knossians fell on the undefended city, carried its women and children back to Knossos as captives, and burned and threw down the town. Its homeless men, unable even to enter the ruins, turned away to Lappa and fight on among the allies.
