The Helvetii in 218 B.C.

The Helvetii — Celtic Tribes.

A populous Celtic people of the high plateau between the Jura, the Alps and the Rhine, north of the mountains and beyond the reach of either Rome or Carthage. Theirs is a warrior nation of the upland country, dwelling in scattered settlements among lakes and rivers, rich in cattle and famed for the numbers of its fighting men — one of the great peoples of the far interior of Celtic Gaul.
