The Cenomani — Celtic Tribes.

A Celtic people of the eastern plain about Brixia and the lands toward the Adige, settled along the bank of the river beyond the Insubres. Alone among the great Gauls of the Po they more often lean toward Rome than against her: in the war of 225 the Cenomani, won over by Roman embassies, refused to join their kinsmen and instead marched with the legions, so that the consuls could turn the whole Gallic strength against the Insubres and Boii. In 218, as the western tribes rise for Hannibal, the Cenomani keep to the Roman side — the great exception among the Cisalpine peoples.
