Military Control Area in 218 B.C.
Military Control Area — Carthage › Carthaginian Spain — the Barcid Domain.
The forward zone held by the army rather than by settlement: the Levantine coast and the approaches to the Ebro, conquered up to the river that the 226 BC treaty with Rome set as the limit of Carthaginian arms. Just within it stood Saguntum, the Roman ally whose storming in 219 lit the Second Punic War.
