The fertile northeast: Aratus’s own Sicyon, the great commercial city of Corinth on its Isthmus, and Phlius in its upland vale. This was the cradle of the League’s expansion — but a divided prize, for the citadel of Acrocorinth above the city is held to this day by a Macedonian garrison.
